Banaoo Modak Aur karoo Bappa Ko Impress
Ganesh Utsav is just about to begin and now in this festival you can enjoy all the Maharashtrian delicacies, in all the delicacies special is the Ukadiche Modak, this is favorite dish of Lord Ganesha, this is served as a offering to Lord Ganesha. This is one of the mouth watering delicacies prepared during Ganesh Festival. This is mine favorite too, so I wanted to know about its recipe to make it by my own and belief me, though it looks difficult to prepare but it really easy to prepare it. So here is the recipe of Ukadiche Modak.
Recipe For Ukadiche Modak :
Ingredients For outer cover :
Ingredients for Filling :-
- 1 cup shredded Coconut
- ½ cup grated Jaggery
- 1tsp roasted Poppy Seeds
- 1tsp Powdered Cardamon
Method For Preparing Outer Cover :
- First boil ½ cup of water and than add ghee in it.
- When the water is boil add the rice flour in it and keep stirring continuously so that they don’t harden up.
- Look the mixture for 2-3 minutes by adding salt to it.
- After that stop heating it and then knead it into soft flour dough when it’s hot.
- This dough after getting ready is called as Ukad and so it has the name of Ukadiche Modak.

Method For Preparing Filling :
- First add 1 tsp Ghee to the pan heat it.
- After that add Jaggery to it and allow it to melt, after melting the jaggery add grated coconut into it.
- Mix everything thoroughly and then cook it for 5 to 10 minutes.
- After cooking it add the cardamom powder and poppy seeds into the mixture.
- So here your filling is ready now keep it aside for cooling.
Now your both filling and outer cover is ready so you are all set to make Ukadiche Modak, so here is it how to begin.
- First divide
the dough into small balls.
- Then roll every ball like as you roll for making puri.
- While taking it into your palms apply some oil on your hands so that it doesn’t thick on your hands.
- Then after placing the puri shapes in your palms you can add some filling into it.

- Bring the ends together from all sides and makes plates to it to form a tip so that you can seal it.
- Now you need to boil these modaks, you can also make use of Haldi leaf, you can place this in the vessel below the modak’s this gives a different essence to it.
- Boil modaks in cooker or steamer.
After all this your delicious Ukadiche Modak is ready to eat, ohh just wait before tasting it, first offer it to Lord Ganesha and then consume it. For making it more delicious you can also, while eating break the modak from middle pour ghee in it and eat, it tastes really yummy.
