India, the land of architecture and the hub of temples, is a centre of attraction for all tourists coming across the world in terms of the sight seeing locales and the immensely ancient

traditions and beliefs. When one comes to India, one is sure to get the best and the most unexpected in travel pleasures Whether it be Southern India or Northern India, whether it is India in the east or the west, whatever the place be and the direction the beauty is the same and the fascinating sights never cease to hold the tourist’s attention.

With the technological advancement and scientific progress, the country has seen a lot more coming in the area of tourism and the whole idea of going around the country has been made more attractive and more interesting for the traveler.

Baywatch Wax Museum

One such example of upping the interest of the tourist is the construction of a wax museum in Southern India. We have heard of the Madame Tussauds Museum in London which houses almost every famous personality across the world. So for us it is not surprising that King Henry and the earlier American president Bill Clinton share the same platform today. Surprised? Yes, this and more is there in the Madame Tussauds’ Museum in London. So why would a country with as rich a culture as that of India, should be left behind? So what does the Indian tourism department do? It just patronizes and encourages the construction of a similar wax museum here in our own land of temples, beaches and natural beauties, India, the Baywatch Wax Museum in the pristine region of Kanyakumari where the three major water bodies of the subcontinent meet. Built in the year 2005, this is a perfect example of how Indian architecture and sculpture has an origin centuries back. So get to know the best of Indian personalities and international ones in this lovely reconstruction of wax statues in this Wax Museum in Kanyakumari.

So see every Indian personality whom you normally see either on television or on big screen, live in front of you and feel proud that you are in the land of change, the land of marvels, India.

So when I went there loaded with such emotions, as I had already heard a lot about it from my friends, I indeed felt a surge of pride go through as I saw the statues in this magnificent museum. I saw the Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, stand smiling in front of me. Then of course there was the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, then Smt. Indira Gandhi and Miss J. Jayalalitha, Mr. Karunakaran  the Kerala Chief Minister and E. K. Nayanar.

Who wouldn’t want to be with the great superstar of Indian cinema Amitabh Bachchan? Every individual who has seen his roles in all the popular movies of his times would surely get overawed seeing his favourite hero come alive in front of him through this wax statue of his in the Wax Museum. If it is Amitabh Bachchan for some, it is the other King of Bollywood as he is called, Shah Rukh Khan who fulfils a fan’s desire to see his favourite star here in the Baywatch Wax Museum. See him and then of course Rajni Kanth. Nothing is complete without this super hero of Tamil Nadu so see the statue of Rajnikant here. Society would be incomplete without music and there are so many maestros who have contributed to this. So see the great Carnatic Singer M.S.Subbalakshmi and the other singing legend K.J. Yesudas, smiling down at you as you walk through the museum. Action hero Jackie Chan is the other interesting character here. For those who love peace and solitude and social service, their favourite leader Mother Teresa is here with the other statues. Most of the famous personalities have been depicted here and it is really enthralling to see the precision and the accuracy that has been used to construct their ditto image. In fact, at times, I felt that the real heroes and leaders were standing there. This is an immense contribution to the Indian society and this was a present that was awaiting the Indian tourism industry in Kanyakumari.

It was the Major Archbishop Catholicos Moranmor Baselios Cleemis who unveiled the statue of Mother Teresa , the great saint godmother who lived in Kolkata and has immensely contributed to the society . All the priests and nuns were present for the inauguration of her statue and prayed when it was eventually unveiled. Sunil Kandalloor the artist was immensely appreciated and blessed by all who were present there on that day. Then you have Swami Vivekananda and the Guru Mata Amrithananda Mayi for the spiritually inclined. If you are a history lover see the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein written all over his face in the statue here. You ask for it and you get it here.
