Dharmapuri – Get Real with Paradise
Often I feel we need to take a break and get to know ourselves very well. These are the only ways we can ensure we can give the right and the most productive output. So this time, when I was posted in Bangalore and got a long weekend break I decided to go to Dharmapuri which is situated a little away from the town of Jagityal and around 51 km from Peddapalle railway station. This place lies on the line of the South Central Railway. The place has a lot of religious connection due to the fact this is where lies the temple of Narasimha swamy who is believed to be a reincarnation of Lord Shiva. Here you would find a single slab having the carvings of Dakshinamurthy, Mathrukas and Lord Vinayaka all carved on a single stone. There is a temple here with around 60 pillars and here is enshrined the deities of Mahishashuramardhini. There is a temple for Goddess Mahalakshmi also. The Akkapalle Rajanna temple is also very famous here.
I like to come here for the sheer simple ambience and the scenic beauty of the place. The place is naturally endowed with a lot of natural splendor lending a lot of beauty to the eye of the person visiting this place.

With many settlements of the Brahmins of the Vedic age, this place in the state of Andhra Pradesh is an absolute paradise for all the tourists coming here. Here you also find a Sanskrit college which is a great center for learning all the Vedic Hymns and also the scriptures. This place is one place where there would never be a dearth of temples. As you walk along the small city, you would find temples dotting the place all over. Small temples and temples boasting of a lot of architectural splendor. This is the ideal destination for anyone who wants to go on a small pilgrimage. Brahmin scholars used to take bath in the River Godavari here and they used to come here to perform the Vedic rites. Here you would also find the temple of Lord Dattatreya who is believed to be the son of Lord Brahma. This is a very rare sight in India to find the temple of Lord Brahma.
Situated on the banks of the River Godavari, this place is a place that is a haven for devotees and a lovely relaxation spot for most of the tourists coming here. The river flowing here is knonwn by the name of Daskhina Vahini as it flows from north to south.

Tourism in Dharmapuri is very good as it has many places to visit. The place is located in the northwestern corner of the state of Tamil Nadu. It has the Tiruvannamalai and the district of Villipuram bordering it. The Salem district borders it in the south and the district of Krishnagiri borders it on the northern side. The River Kaveri lies to the west of Dharmapuri. There is lot of agricultural activity going on here and the place is famous for the lovely and beautiful Hogenakal falls that forms the best sightseeing attraction for all tourists here.
A small getaway spot for many the Hogenakkal falls is surely a place to visit and experience just for the sheer beauty of the place.
Dharmapuri also has the Shri Theerthagirishwar temple here which is very famous. It is situated in the area of Theerthamalai.
Then you have the Chenraya Perumal temple situated in the area of Adhiyamankottam. Then visit the Subramanya Siva Memorial in the area.
Dharmapuri is usually hot in the months of March to May. The winters are however cooler with a pleasant weather. The best time to visit this place is therefore in the winter. There are lots of flowers found in the Dharmapuri region. The place is thus a great horticultural hub.
Theerthamalai is a very sacred place in the land of Tamil Nadu and is highly respected and revered by all. The Shri Theerthagirishwar temple is located here. It is recorded in history as one of the most respected temples during the Chola reign. In fact, the Chola kings and also the Vijaynagara kings used to respect this temple a lot.

Here is where you would also find people celebrating Mahashivratri in great gusto. This is a very auspicious day for all Hindus and the region of Dharmapuri celebrates this festival and welcomes the Lord with a lot of reverence.
India is a land of temples, and faith. There are lot of places which are popular for various structures and beliefs. Out of the very many places that we visit in India, most of them reflect the culture and tradition of the country and exhibit the capacity to imbibe in the tourist the reason to believe the Indian form of worship. When we reach the land of Dharmapuri, we can sense the vibration that the temples and other faiths express and thus this place is a great place to go to.
