The Gavlideo Waterfalls near Ghansoli is one such lovely water retreat which gives the tourist a great break from the mundane routine of everyday life. We decided to go to this beautiful spot  in one of our sudden weekend plans. It was a memorable trip and the entire ambience and the total experience was something really remarkably distinct. Even today as we think of the beauty and thrill of the place, the whole experience comes winding back with a lot of nostalgia. The journey to the place was very comfortable and we went driving down to this place. There are bus routes which take you to this beautiful locale and commuters are seen taking a bus as the best mode of transport. In fact there are tales of how people missed the bus and the driver helped by waiting at the next point while the passenger traveled by auto to the place. Such is the enthusiasm and interest of everyone when one visits this place

Gavlideo Waterfalls.

The Gavlideo Waterfalls is the most popular and much sought after water destination for most of the Mumbaikars who are quite famous for their monsoon travails. After the Pandavkada waterfall closed down near Mumbai for security reasons, the Gavlideo waterfalls is the next destination which has been attracting tourists. Thousands of people come here and love to enjoy the sheer beauty of the surroundings and the absolute magnificence of the place. The waterfall at Gavlideo is safer and so everyone feels safe and comfortable here. It is a free for all enjoyment site and many people appreciate the existence of such a great place near Mumbai. The sad part is however the garbage that is found accumulating here caused due to the revellers and the picnickers who come here and strew liquor bottles and food particles all over.

Situated in Navi Mumbai, this is on the Thane Belapur Road. We entered on the MIDC road and came to know that this place is called Digha. The road ended at a place called Mahape Millenium IT Park. The NOCIL Company has developed a small green patch here and this is what breaks the monotony of the place. The water fall here is seasonal yet the people who come here are sure to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding. The view from the top of the hill is great and the reservoir here also is an added attraction. The reservoir gets dried up in the monsoon season and thus the Gavlideo Waterfalls is famous only the weekends in the rainy season. However families have to ensure that they don’t get into the wrong company as there are many youngsters who come here to have fun with alcohol etc.

 Gavlideo Waterfalls in Ghansoli

Around 5 km from Thane the Gavlideo Water falls is at a height of around 350 feet. The place gets its name from local deity here Gavli. There is a temple here above the falls on the hills. The Municipal Corporation of Navi Mumbai have helped in developing the area well and the fact that there is a rich flora and fauna makes this place very viable and attractive for the weekend enthusiasts.

So all those who have been used to going to the Pandavkada Waterfalls can now head towards the Gavlideo Waterfalls and see how this is slowly becoming a major tourist hub, especially during the rains. Each and every nature enthusiast is thus making sure that he doesn’t miss this recent discovery in this part of India and thus is having a good monsoon retreat.

There have been many attempts to make this place more attractive and many concerned citizens have contributed to preserving the simple natural beauty of the place. Organizations have taken up cleanliness campaigns and ensured that the place doesn’t look shabby and dirty.

Gavlideo Waterfall attractions

Ghansoli is easily accessible from the Thane Belapur Road and is an upcoming locality in this part of the suburbs of Mumbai. Situated to the south of the Airoli this is a recently developed part of the suburbs and the fact that the Gavlideo waterfalls lies here, has made visits here very common and frequent.

So for all those who rued the closure of the Pandavkada Waterfalls in Kharghar, hope is again revived in the form of the Gavlidev Waterfalls in Ghansoli. So why wait and waste time. Wait for the rains to fall and head towards Gavlidev Waterfalls and bring back a memorable travel kitty.
