Ganga Dussehra
When I hear of the term Ganga there are only two things that gets clicked into my brains, first is the serenity of the amazing River Ganga and secondly is what everybody say ‘agar jaada paap kiye hai toh Ganga naha lo’. The meaning of
the sentence is that the auspicious river Ganga washes away all sins that you do in your life time by just taking a bath once, how strange isn’t it? But no point of thinking whether it’s true or not, as it is a belief so just keep believing it.
The time when I paid my visit to great river Ganga was in the month of June, guess what when I reached the place got to know there was a festival about to begin called ‘Ganga Dussehra’, you might have also not heard about it or may be you have, but talking about me I it fell on my ears for the first time and I keep wandering what could be the festival all about so I thought of staying back for ten longs days to attain this festival. Now you might wonder why am I staying back for 10 days, it’s very simple the duration of the festival is of 10 days. I know there is no need of specifying it but I think I should, Ganga Dussehra is the festival that is celebrated mainly by Hindus on the places like Prayag, Varanasi, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Garh-Mukteshwar and many more on the list.
At the time of Ganga Dussehra, people thrive in huge numbers on the places that I mentioned in the pervious line, but
mainly you can find more people in Haridwar and Varanasi. The very beautiful thing which you can find in Haridwar is the ‘aartis’ that are taken place on the banks of the River Ganga. It is very obvious that river Ganga is thronged with devotees in the entire year, but on these 10 days of the festival of Ganga Dussehra, I was feeling as if the population from whole India is shifted to banks of River Ganga.
The most important thing that made me stunned was the celebrations going around during the festival which was just awesome, the expression
that came from my mouth was “WOWWWW”, now you all must be wondering what made me to give such an expression, so here’s is your answer. On every evening River Ganga is offered with more than thousands of leaf boats with diya’s, flowers and sweetmeats in it. Now I guess you must be pleased with my expression as the view of the river turned me speechless.
When I came back to my hometown one of my friend Chandrima asked me where have you been these many days, I told here everything what made me wait there, after hearing to all that she just passed one statement “Thank God, you didn’t take bath in Ganga, otherwise Ganga ka paani sukh jaata”, she completed this and we started laughing like mad’s.
