Gorai Beach Attractions and Sightseeing

Sometimes the best travel attractions lie in the most unexpected places in the world. Gorai is one such place in the western part of India in the great city of Mumbai. Accessed from the Gorai Creek in Borivali this beach lies around 4 kilometres away and is accessed by a ferry ride from the Marve beach.

Invariably I reach the Gorai Beach when I come here with my family to the Water Kingdom. I plan it in such that I can  visit both the places. Essel world is a very popular entertainment park in this part of Mumbai so whenever I come with my family to any of these amusement zones, I surely make it a point to go to Gorai Beach also. These areas are perfect for all ages and it is intriguing to see this pristine beach locale surrounded by villas and bordered by the fishing villages.

The fact that I have easy acess to the beach i can reach here easily on the auto rickshaw or the buses here, makes it a greater excitement for all of us, for sometimes traveling makes the whole trip even more tiresome. There are hotels and accommodations available here in case you want to stay over so there is really nothing much to worry actually.

It is very important that whichever place you visit is always visited with the right kind of cloth wear and accessories. With the most pleasant beachwear and the most attractive hats and sun lotions, Gorai is surely a great spot to visit.

Situated on the northwestern part of Mumbai, Gorai is separated from the Salsette Island by the Manori creek. Gorai region was locatedhe on a separate island called the Dharavi Island while the Manori and the Malad Creek amalgamated and joined the Vasai Creek through the creek at Ghodbunder. Today the Ghodbunder Creek is practically not there and the Dharavi Island is a peninsula on which the Gorai beach stands.

Recently the beaches in Gorai are becoming very polluted and it is sometimes ironical that Gorai was actually known for its clean beaches earlier. With the swaying palm trees, the Gorai beach is a picture of perfection and scenic beauty.

Dominated by an East Indian population, Gorai has three beautiful churches with the Three Magi or the Reis Magos as the oldest church. Gorai is the place that has been declared as a Special Economic Zone by Esselword.

The calm, serene and tranquil ambience here makes it a tourist lover’s delight and is a total contrast to the hubbub of everyday life. The sight of bullock carts always kindles my children’s interest and excitement and they simply love to enjoy this village atmosphere.

So for all those people in the city, merry making and enjoyment is the prime reason to come to this place. There are times when people come here for beach parties and let down their hair and paint the town red. Enjoy playing Frisbees and the feel of sand and the sights of the beach villas and the experience of the there. This beach is very safe and is an excellent setting for a tourist. The fact that it is very near the metropolis makes it all the more easier for tourists to visit and makes it a fun zone for all. This sandy shoreline with its verdant stretches gives beauty to the eye and is a complete travel delight.

There are many places that you could see near the Gorai Beach. The Golden Buddhist Pagoda is a recent attraction here as also the Water Kingdom and Essel world. Take a horse cart, or a bicycle here and you could go around the place. The best time to visit the Gorai creek is any time of the year but it is better to avoid the summers as it is very hot. Also monsoons are best avoided so make it a point to be here during the winters and other times of the year.

With many small hotels catering to your palate and with the best scenes of sun set and sun rise adding to your travel kitty, the Gorai Beach surely comes in your lists of places to see in and around Mumbai.
