Lakshadweep Islands – Neighbour’s Envy Owner’s Pride
After all the trouble I took to ensure that my son got admission in the college of his choice, we decided that we had to take a break. It was very necessary for all of us. The entire family had gone through a long journey of filling forms, and getting into the queue and then meeting deadlines.
So it was a welcome break for us when we decided to go to Lakshadweep Islands. This land of pedal boats, and kayaking and skiing boats and sailing yachts, and beautifully bottomed boats and of course the lovely golden sandy beaches.
So I was quite excited that our family had finally decided to go on a short family vacation to the loveliest land in this part of the world.
This archipelago of around 36 beautiful islands of coral type has the most virgin of beaches which remain beautiful even today as they have not been touched. With the best vegetation and greenery around the coconut groves here offer the best adventure and scenic splendor to the tourist. With the loveliest expanse of aquamarine life and the best of colours, the place is an absolute paradise with great scenic views and the most fantastic kind of travel experience.

There is a certain potential about the development of the place as a great tourism hub and the total beauty of the islands lends a relaxed feeling to the people. The tourism department is also taking care that the place does not get too crowded.
This is the only beach that is formed in the country and is a stupendous tourist attraction here. The sands of the beach are a total attraction, and the lovely lagoons with their turquoise blue color are mesmerizing. Green coconut palms, and the lovely coral reefs, give a complete mix of pleasure and enjoyment.
After the din and noise of the city life, this is one place which would give you complete relaxation and rejuvenation. The isolated feel of the place is what makes the place look so heavenly. The beautiful beaches here lend the surroundings a great feeling. The birds chirp and the trees sway to the beauty of Nature. The entire ambience and surroundings of the whole place is what makes the experience wonderful. This could be one of the most romantic places and the most adventurous spots that could attract the tourists.
As we lodged in one of the beautiful resorts here in Lakshwadeep Islands, we were quite enthralled by the entire surrounding. We went to Minicoy the southernmost island, and are also the second largest in Lakshadweep. This was shaped like a crescent, and has the largest lagoon in this part of the world. We saw the lighthouse which is the main attraction here. It was a beautifully constructed lighthouse and we enjoyed the whole experience.
The next destination is the Bangaram Island, which is by any doubt a major tourist hubbub. The entire beauty of the place coupled with the lagoons and beaches here has a charm that is unbeatable. The domestic tourists as well as the foreign tourists seemed to enjoy a lot here. This place was absolutely pollution free and I loved the beautiful feel that the whole place gave.
The next day we went to the Kavaratti which is a place famous for mosques. We went to the Ujra mosque which it is believed has magical powers. These powers cure the person of all kinds of diseases. The town was very lively and active and the lake here was extremely hypnotizing. We loved the beauty exuded here and just let ourselves flow into a land of no come backs. There was a large aquarium which housed the best corals and fish. Of course, there were monuments dating back to history here and the entire area of Kavaratti was having a lot of interested tourists who were enjoying to their heart’s content.
Agatti was the next place we went to. This too as others is famous for the mesmerizing beaches, and the lovely golden sands here. We did a lot of water sports activities here. My friends went scuba diving and I went kayaking. There were sail boats where tourists were having an adventurous time. This incidentally is the gateway to the Lakshadweep Islands and I certainly was enamored to see the coral growths and the variety of fauna here.
We were quite exhausted and returned to our hotel. After a good deal of relaxation and a lovely delicious dinner, the next morning we went to the village of Kalpeni. This had the best shorelines and here there was a major tourist attraction. It was the storm bank of the ruins of the corals which lies on the shorelines. We did a lot of snorkeling here and enjoyed the pedal boat ride too. My cousin loved to swim here and I guess this is one experience which no one would want to miss.
