Rajasthan is a land of traditions, culture and absolutely charming travel locales. This state has perhaps witnessed the best kinds of historical events and the most memorable social changes.

In this very state of Rajasthan, sometime back in the 18th century, there was a dominance of the merchant class. These merchants settled here in this land and constructed many mansions and havelis in the villages around. Later they migrated to other regions and then there was no one to take care of these mansions. As time passed, these mansions became major tourist spots in Rajasthan. Mandawa is one such region in Rajasthan which is purely famous for its lovely mansions and havelis.

Innumerable tourists from across the world come here to the land of sandy delights and enjoy the visual delights of the fascinating mansions. I thought why I shouldn’t be one of them, and had been to this lovely region of architectural elegance last month. One thing that I  did  not want to miss was the Mandawa castle. This castle was once a major stop for the silk route. Today this is a great heritage hotel. Strange are the ways of history and only time is the truthful witness. There are various tours that are offered for Nawalgarh, Parsurampura, Mukundgarh, Jhunjhunu, Fatehpur and Dundlod.

Rajasthan welcomes all those tourists coming to Mandawa in the Shekhawati region, which is just around 190 km from the city of Jaipur.

This Shekhawati capital is in the semi arid region of this part of Indian and is located in the northeast of Rajasthan. Very famous over the world for its designed and carved havelis, this is a great zone of wonderful paintings and the most fascinating art forms.

Mandawa has its own share of tourist attractions:

The Mandawa Fort : The Mandawa Fort is the most beautiful fort in Rajasthan and has the best effects of past royalty, grandeur and a great tale of the earlier times. With the lovely painted archways that adorn the fort, there are interesting paintings of the life of Lord Krishna that decorate the havelis. The sight of Krishna with his cowherds is an enchanting experience.

Havelis : These are the beautiful mansions here. I went around the place and I remember how the Binsidhar Newatia Haveli, one of the popular havelis here is known for its unique paintings. This haveli has the online pharmacy cialis painting of a boy holding a telephone. Then there was a painting of an European woman sitting in a care and driven by someone else. There were many other lively and beautiful works of art which truly reflected the culture of this building. Then there is the Gulab Rai Ladia haveli which is very popular for its erotic images most of which are defaced today. The Goenka Double Haveli, the Jhunjhunwala Haveli, and the Murmuria Haveli are some other beautiful places to see here.

Thakurji temple : I also visited the Thakurji temple. This is an absolutely amazing temple in Rajasthan and has the most enthralling images and paintings, along with the most beautiful archways with the most beautiful patterns. This is a temple that is dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Mandawa has some of the best places to live and has the Heritage Hotel  and the Hotel Mandawa Haveli, the Desert Resort etc. Some of the best forts are also located in this city and there is a 17th century fort which has been converted to a hotel today that attracts all. The two majestic gateways that lead to the central courtyard are another major attraction here. With the best collection of old castles and the most fascinating constructional examples, this is the ideal place to experience the kind of mystical aura that makes this a magnificent place.

Then I went to the main bazaar of Mandawa, which had the collections of souvenirs and brass works besides textile articles.

There were beautiful frescoes at the Thakurji Dedraj Tarmal, the Neowatia, the Ladiya Haveli, and the Chokhani all of which were really beautiful for the eye and also a great treat for all of us. Then I saw the Harlalka Baoli and the Shiv Mandir which gave me all the reasons to use my camera well. Then the cemetery and the beautiful surroundings of the entire place totally left me wide mouthed.
