Come to Kangra Valley here and enjoy the virgin beauty of Palampur, the lovely paradise in this part of India. With greatly curative properties this is a perfect tourist destination with the best surroundings for rejuvenation and relaxation. With the majestic hills forming the background, and the Dhauladhar ranges providing a great view, this is a greatly favoured tourist spot. There is an amusement park here

for the recreation of all the tourists coming here. Then there is a magnificent ropeway, which enthralls the tourists.

See the magnificence of the Agricultural University here which is today a functioning institution. There are many tea factories which are coming up here and the entire region is most favoured for pleasant walks and casual strolls. Then there is the Bundla chasm which falls over the Bundla stream. The entire place with its water bodies, and scenic charm, is replete with a great deal of tourist pleasures.

Palampur

There are many places to see in and around Palampur. Visit the Bir and Beelling which lie around 35 km from Palampur. These villages are famous for the monasteries of the Buddhists. The hang gliding pilots use this place as their landing ground. Bir is a place surrounded by tea gardens and there is an amphitheater here with low lying hills. This is used by the para gliders. All the monasteries of Bir are greatly visited spots. There are aero sports sites here with vast areas of around 200 kms and at a great altitude. This is one of the best aero sports areas in the whole of India.

Buddhist Monastery

Visit Baijnath which is around 16 km from Palampur. Here the Shiva temple is very popular with Lord Shiv as the main deity. This is one of the most fascinating constructions in the Kangra Valley. This town was earlier known as “Kirgrama”. Baijnath gets its name from Shiva Vaidyanath. There is an “Adytum” or a pyramid shaped roof. This Adytum has a lingam. It is said that The Lanka King Ravaan worshipped the Shiv linga here and gained a lot of immortal powers. Baijnath is one of the Jyotirlingams of India. During Shivratri there is a fair that is held here and you can see devotees throng to come to this place.

Then there is the Neugal Khad which lies around 2 km from Palampur, and gives a fine view of the entire Dhauladhar range. Here it rains a lot during the rainy season and the scene of this river gurgling down the region is very fascinating. This is a great picnic locale and an ideal day to escape from the regular busy schedule.

When we went there we really enjoyed the entire scenery and the whole experience is very enchanting. Then we also went to the Bundla Stream which is another 2 km from Palampur. This has a wide chasm of around 100 metres, which swells up and rises to a great deal in

the monsoon season. It carries with it many boulders and stones along with it and makes a lot of noise. The thunderous roar is a greatly beautiful sight and the entire scenery is very magical. Tourists love to walk from Palampur to Bundla.

Around 13 km from Palampur is another great place we went to. There is the residence of Late Shobha Singh and also Norah Richards the late playwriter. From here we saw the lovely view of the entire Dhauladhar Range.

Then we went to Shobha Singh’s Art Gallery which is located at a place called Andhretta which lies around 13km from Palampur.

With the breath taking effects that the entire locale provides, the area of Palampur is filled with eye catching scenes and the most magnificent para gliding areas, with the most intriguing old temples and the most exciting winter sports activities too. We went and enjoyed some of the winter sports activities that are so famous here.

Snowfall is very common in Palampur and it was a great sight for us to see the pleasures of snowy destinations, in this part of the world. This is the ideal place for honeymoon destinations, and everyone love to come and visit this lovely locale and enjoy their holiday experiences.

Some of the best travel pleasures are found in the northern part of India. It is interesting to note how travel experiences and beauty of nature are combined. Palampur in Himachal Pradesh is one such destination and it is fun to watch the sights come unfolded in this land of pleasure, fantasy and excitement.

Also go to the Saurabh Van Vihar which is a great verdant expanse stretching over 13 hectares and was established with the idea of giving nature and environment a platform to be showcased. Situated on the right bank of Neugal Khad near the bridge called Kandi and on the base of the Dhauladhar Ranges this has been built in memory of Martyr Lt. Saurabh Kalia who gave up his life in the Kargil operation in the year 1999.

Palampur is approached by road, rail and air. With Gaggal as the nearest airport and Palampur as the nearest railway station, the place is accessed from all cities by the national routes.
