River Rafting Pleasures at Kolad
Some of the better pleasures of a great travel experience remain nested in the simplest of surroundings with the most fascinating memories. River rafting at Kolad is one such tour delight that would surely make tours to this part of the world greatly exciting. The rafting experience begins with a bus ride from Pune to Kolad. You would be provided with tea, breakfast and also evening tea. You would have lunch at Kolad and after paying the rafting charges you can change your clothes and also get refreshed. You would also have cold drinks, mineral water etc.
There is another rafting tour which begins at departure at 6:00 am. Then after breakfast, you can proceed with the instructions for rafting and also get briefed about the entire tour. You can start rafting around 10 a.m. then the rafting would be for around 2 hours and you would go across a distance of 12 km. The session ends with a lot of excitement and adventure. Then you can travel to the resort and change clothes and also have lunch. You would start on your return journey by around 4.30 p.m. Get back to Pune by around 8 in the evening and you can bask in the pleasures of a lovely experience in water. You can stop at Tamhinni Ghat on the way if you please. The timings for the actual experience of rafting can change as per the way the water is discharged from the dam.
Make sure you carry your luggage packed well in a perfect trekking sack. Then ensure that you cover all the luggages with plastic bags so that they don’t get wet. You can also have a spare set of socks and clothes, as well as water bottle. Make sure you have a water bottle and a packet of glucose with you. Medication is also essential so carry the medicines with you. Also have warm clothing with you as it could be cold there. A pair of good shoes for trekking is very necessary. Obviously you shouldn’t travel here without a camera.

A typical one day rafting experience here would have you getting briefed about the rafting at around 8 in the morning and then the rafting would begin at around 9 in the morning. Then you would have lunch at around 1.30 in the afternoon, and then at 3 in the late afternoon you would go kayaking, where you would cross the river thus enjoying a great experience. Then of course it is tea time at around 5 in the evening. An hour later you would have a lot of free time during the time you would go on a self drive visit. You can go and see the wood craft museum and also the Dolvan Dam which are great places to visit while being in this part of the world. Then there is a night walk which ensures you flex your muscles that have got tired during the day. Then it is time for camp fire and dinner too.
The next day you would again have morning tea as well as breakfast. You would leave by 9 in the morning. There are comfortable accommodations that are given in the Machan. There are facilities of dome tents, frame tents as you require. There are also tents available on multi share basis and this is totally dependent on the size of the group. You would have mattresses, sleeping bags, bedsheets, and also pillows given to you. You could also access the bathroom and the out house facilities.
Then there is the 1 day Weekend White Water Rafting. This is very reasonably priced and this is inclusive of a thrilling tow and a half hour rafting experience and gives you guides for training. You could also body surf here and with the kind of safety line jackets and rafting equipment that you are provided you are sure to have a lot of rafting thrill.
Similar rafting experiences are there for 2 Days and 1 night Weekend White Water Rafting. Again there are similar facilities provided and the addition night stay in the cottage on four sharing basis is an added feature in these trips. Also you would have an extra breakfast and dinner too.
River rafting in this area of Kundalika started some time back and is an all the year activity today. This is in fact the only rafting facility that is operational perennially in India. There are Grade II and Grade III rapids which give you the maximum thrills. The river basically gets water from the Mulshi Dam thus making it a great rafting spot.
