Situated in the region of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Silvassa is a great paradise for all the trekking enthusiasts and a great locale for backpackers. Tourists, who want to have the best of wilder side of life, would love to come here in this land of Silvassa. This is a great Portuguese heritage and a region with the best blend of Indo Portuguese culture.

I normally go to Silvassa whenever I get the time to go on a weekend getaway. So when I got the chance to go to Silvassa, I did not miss the opportunity to go therewith my friends.

Silvassa is famous for its natural surroundings and the beautiful gardens that are so much a part of this place. There is a deer sanctuary here and the tourists coming here like to go on the lion safari that is here. There are many Roman and Catholic churches here which are great attractions for all those who come to Silvassa. This is a popular industrial hub and has a steadily increasing population. Cultures from in and around the place are found here.

Silvassa

Lakes and rivers surround this area. There are many places of interest here. So we go to see the ideal travel locales here and came back a pleasant lot.

We went to the museum first. This tribal culture museum is an enchanting and fascinating place. This was actually constructed to preserve the culture of the tribals here. The entire region of Silvassa with its heritage is preserved in the museum. We got an insight on the total culture of the local Wari people who are the natives of this region.

The fact that the Silvassa trip comes on a small economy was a great advantage for all of us. We found great accommodation here which was quite comfortable and convenient.

We went to the Hirwa Van Gardens. This lovely paradise is a great place with ideal areas of beauty and pleasure. The splendour and the magnificence of the entire place is seen to be believed. Designed with good crafty sculptures this is a lovely area for picnic. The entire garden is decorated with a lot of beautiful waterfalls. Then there are small cascades which make the entire experience here memorable. The twin arches here and the absolute grandeur of the stone walls here ensured that we got to enjoy the entire experience totally. The flower beads that decorated the grass lawns here and the beautiful grass that made the place look like a Garden of Eden was what was completely enthralling.

Hirwa Van Gardens

It looked as if we were in a totally different land. With the lovely beauties shown dancing in the gardens, and the bridges adding to the beauty, we went to the Island Garden next. This is located around 4 kms from the Silvassa region and had the best of picturesque beauty. There was something about this place that was very enthralling and we captured most of the moments on camera. The lovely collection of flowers here and the beautiful crooked paths that led us up into the green expanse and the thrilling boat ride made our trip to Silvassa a great experience.

Inside Hirwa Van Gardens

The thatched huts here along with the background of the most verdant expanse made the ambience look as if it had comes straight out of a picture postcard. Incidentally this is also a great place where the Indian film industry has shot many movies.

Then we went to the Vanganga Lake which is also called the beauty spot of the Island Gardens. This is where most of the people living nearby come for the weekends and have fun. There is something very quaint about this place and you could attribute it to the lovely scenic beauty around. We saw many honeymooners enjoying the boat ride and many others frolicking around in the lake. Children were enjoying while the others were relaxing here. A great destination here and very pleasurable.

Vanganga Lake

The next place we went to was the The Church of Our Lady. This is a chapel which is around 100 years old. It was built sometime in the year 1 886- 1889. The Portuguese settlers built it. This church is a living testimony to the past rule of the Portuguese and there were at least 72 villages under it. The church is still strong and is a major attraction here.

Then we went to Dudhni which is around 45 km from Silvassa. There were innumerable bends, mountains and curves as we reached the place and this was filled with the best kind of luscious greenery. The road wound up amidst the forests and the place was an intrigue to al of us. The River Damanganga and the Madhuban Damare great attractions here and we saw these two and came back laden with memories of the beautiful scenery of the place.

Dudhni

We also went to Khanvel and came back to Mumbai with a lot of cherished tales from this land of Silvassa.

Silvassa is one of the most popular travel destinations in this part of India. Visit this place and comeback rejuvenated.
