Travel Ecstasy at Chail

A great destination for all and a perfect idyllic resort this is one land which gives greatest travel pleasures. This is the ideal getaway for all the tourists coming to this part of India and the beautiful locale which is at a height of 7300 ft. This was once the summer retreat of the Patiala Maharaja. Overlooking the beautiful region of Shimla, Kasauli, Solan, and Chail is a lovely region with the most beautiful deodar trees which make the place very enchanting and lovely. Come to the Sidh temple here which is dedicated to the Sidh Baba and which is a greatly charming place to be in.

As we went up the road to Chail, we saw that it bifurcated on the Kalka Shimla highway and this 29 km stretch take you to Sadhopul which is a beautiful picnic spot. With the River Ashwin, passing through this region it is a lovely land of splendid sighs and the greatest elegance. Chail is always famous fro the opulent architectural style and the beautiful scenic backdrops.

Covering three hills, this is the placed where one of the hills is the famous locale for the highest cricket ground in the entire world. Cricket was a royal spot in those days and this ground was built in the year 1893. The Royal palace is found on the second hill and is an 1891 construction. Ensconced in an area of around 75 acres, this gives some greatly fascinating sights of the Deodar trees and the loveliest settings. The third hill is the highest one and is the venue of the Sidh Temple.

At Chail we participated and were a part of many nature walks, which are commonly held here in the Chail Sanctuary. It was very interesting to walk through the jungles and to see the lovely campfire in the jungle and to interact with the variety of avifauna here.

We went to the Palace Hotel where Bhupinder Singh the King of Patiala who was apparently banished from Shimla came to reside here. It is said that he came here after being thrown out after a war of words with the daughter of the Commander in Chief sometime in the later part of the 19th century.

Then of course the Chail sanctuary was our next destination where we saw some of the best sights of wild animals.

The Chail Cricket ground at a height of around 2,144 m enthralled us and it is also a polo ground and is a perfect treat for the tourist’s eye.

While at Chail, a visit to the Maharaja’s Palace is obvious. With the most fascinating constructional elegance, the beautiful palace with its exquisite furnishings and loveliest surroundings is a perfect place to be in and an ideal locale to enjoy while on a tour of North India. The serenity of the place and the magnanimity of the ambience here rendered us totally weak with pleasure and excitement and gave us the memory of the lifetime. Chail is a true resort and perfect haven for all the travelers.

We also went to the Sidh Baba Ka Mandir is another major attraction here and this temple built by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh who wanted this to be a palace. But he got a dream wherein he was asked to build a temple here so the temple came into existence.

Then there is the Kufri ski resort which is used for riding, yak, skating and also is famous for the mini zoo. Then go to the Lover’s Hill which is another beautiful place to be in. Then there is the Sadupul which is a riverside picnic locale and also the kali ka Tibba which is a sunset point.

Then you could go to Gaura which is a great place for riverside camping and it is also a lovely locale for fishing and picnic experiences. Enjoy fishing in the River Giri Ganga and have the best tour experiences.

The months of April to June and September and October are the most pleasant time of the year to visit this place. The snow season is between the months of December to February. It is better to wear woolen clothes in this cold region.

With Shimla and Khandaghat as the nearest railhead and Jubbar Hatti Airport as the nearest airport Chail is a lovely place to be in and the most exotic travel locale in this part of the world.
